Frequently Asked Questions
Never hesitate to contact us with any questions. You ask and we answer.
What is your vetting process?
We require all sitters to hold a current Adult/Child/Infant CPR and First Aid certification. All sitters pass a national background check including state and county criminal records, social security check, sex offender registry, and driving record. Prospective sitters have an in person interview and have a minimum of 3 childcare references verified. All sitters must have a MINIMUM of 3 years of childcare experience to be considered (experience with family is not counted towards the 3 years).
Can I book the same sitter each time?
You can always request whichever sitter you would like, and we will check their availability first! As a general rule, we do our best to keep the same couple of sitters with the same family for consistency. However, it all depends on sitter availability.
Can I meet the sitter beforehand?
If you would like to meet the sitter in person before your appointment, the two hour paid minimum to the sitter applies, as many of our sitters travel from across Hampton Roads. Families are more than welcome to Facetime or video call their sitter beforehand free of any charge!
If you do decide to set up a meet and greet with your sitter before the appointment, we happily waive the booking fee.
Can you drop my child off at daycare/ take them to activities?
Yes! We have many sitters who would love to take your child wherever they need to be, as long as you can provide any required car seats. We review all our sitters' driving records before bringing them on our team.
Do you watch sick children?
We respectfully leave the decision to the discretion of the sitter. Some sitters have their own children and do not feel comfortable caring for sick children; some sitters are ok with it depending on the symptoms. We ask that you please let us know immediately if your kiddos are feeling sick, and what their symptoms are. If the current sitter booked is not able to care for a sick child, we will do our best to find a replacement sitter. We appreciate your understanding!
Do you offer daily or weekly flat rates?
No, we do not offer the option of flat rates. We only have you pay for the number of hours the sitter is caring for your child.
What is the cancellation policy?
The client can cancel up to 24 hours before the appointment free of charge. If the client cancels within a 24 hour time frame, a cancellation fee of $25 is charged. If the client cancels within a 12 hour time frame of the appointment start time, a cancellation fee of $36 is charged. If the client cancels within a 3 hour time frame of the appointment start time, a cancellation fee of either $54 OR the scheduled hourly rate is charged, whichever amount is lower. 100% of cancellation fees go to the sitter booked.
Does the military discount apply to hourly rates?
We only offer discounts on booking fees and memberships, they do not apply to hourly rates. We offer a 10% discount to the following families: military, first responders, healthcare workers, teachers, students, and single parents. We appreciate all that you do.
What COVID precautions are you taking?
We will never send a sick sitter to a home. The moment any of our sitters start feeling any kind of sick symptoms, COVID or otherwise, they let us know immediately so we can find a replacement sitter. If they or someone they have been in close contact with has an exposure, they must get tested before returning to any homes. We keep our clients up to date and informed of any exposures, testing, and test results. ALL sitters, regardless of vaccination status, are happy to wear masks to your home.
